Do I have a choice now with my coverages with auto insurance no-fault reform?
CV-19 has taken the focus off of auto no-fault reform. Rest assured we are on top of it for you! According to the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) CV-19 will not impact the implementation of no-fault reform as of 4/16/2020.
Reform to our no-fault system has not taken place since its implementation in the 1970s. We have recorded 8 videos that you can find on our YouTube channel Meiers Lombardini Lemanski Insurance. We are also blogging about all 8 of these videos too!
In 1973 auto insurance for medical coverage was unlimited. So if you were injured in an auto accident and you have medical bills related to the auto accident they would be paid for by your auto insurance.
Effective 7/2/2020 you will now be able to make a selection. Your selection starts at $50,000, $250,000, $500,000, unlimited or you can opt out entirely without any coverage for medical.
We want to remind you if you opt out or select lower limits and you injure anyone in an auto accident you can now be sued for excess medical bills that are not covered. This will lead to an increase in claims being made as well as court judgement being made.
