Fun in the Michigan Sun Tips

Michigan Summer Fun Tips

It’s that time of year again when we Michiganders are getting out into their communities for festivals, yard work, fun and vacation. We want to give you some things to help you have the best summer this year!

1-Stay hydrated.

Drink plenty of water especially on hot days but also throughout the summer. How much water should you be drinking? Well, there are a lot of factors that go into that calculations but a general consensus is at least three liters or a little less than a gallon a day. Keep a water bottle with you and in your car. You can also eat more water rich fruits and vegetables to help keep you hydrated too!

2-Use sunscreen and reapply!

Sunscreen is always important but very important when the sun is at it’s peak from 11am-2pm. Put sunscreen on 15 minutes prior to leaving the house so it has a chance to absorb into your skin. Don’t forget to reapply at least every two hours. You should apply it more often than that if you are sweating or swimming.

3-Listen to your body.

Stay in tune with your body and look for signs of overheating or too much sun. Some signs to look for are fatigue, headaches and muscle aches. Make sure to take a break, get in the shade and drink some water.

4-Check in with your elderly family, friends and neighbors during the hot weather.

Enjoy the beautiful Michigan summer! Stay hydrated, use and reapply sunscreen, listen to your body and check on elderly family, friends and neighbors! #teammllins #summerfuntips #summertips #hydratedontdiedrate
