PEW!! PEW!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!! Fireworks Season and Veterans
This holiday season we need to be aware of setting off fireworks in our neighborhoods and near other homes. This is a very hard time of the year for our veterans. The loud bangs of fireworks can be harmful for veterans battling PTSD. Fireworks that are set off during the holidays are hard on our veterans but also the ones that go off randomly. Loud and unexpected noises like fireworks are common triggers for combat veterans who suffer from PTSD because these sounds can remind them of gunfire or explosions during their service.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
1-Don’t set fireworks off late at night or near other homes.
2- If you can go to an organized event, please attend those instead of setting off your own.
