Just this week our very own Chris Cook was featured on JTV! Chris had a fantastic conversation talking about the state of insurance premiums. He focused on Homeowners and explained that a number of factors are figuring into the increase in premiums such as weather, increased cost of building materials and inflation to name a few. Chris explained how important it is to have an agent that you can reach out to talk with regarding your specific needs and that he likes taking the time to educate his clients on the state of the market and the coverages that he would recommend. He stressed a number of times the importance of knowing what coverage you have for your home.
He also reminded viewers that you need to call and speak with your agent about any improvements you make to your home. Why? You want to make sure that you have the proper coverage for any renovations or remodeling you’ve done to your home or business since your homeowner’s policy was initially put into effect. For example, adding a new dec, solar panels, finishing basements, remodeling kitchens or bathrooms to name a few.
Lastly, Chris had the opportunity to remind people to check their basements for water especially with all the rain we’ve been having lately. If you have a finished basement, do you have the coverage you need? Did you recently finish your basement? If yes, give your agent a call and talk about what coverages you may need.
