Egress Window Winter Tips
It sure seems like all of Michigan has officially been ushered into winter over this past week. The snow was flying, the roads were slick, and the warnings and advisories were issued. Regardless of how much snow your home and business ended up with take a minute to check your egress window wells. Are they full of snow? Has the snow drifted into them? Would you, your family or friends be able to open the window easily in the event of an emergency?
More house fires occur in winter than during any other time of the year. Take a minute to go and remove the snow from the window well so that you can easily exit in the event of an emergency. While you are outside check the back doors that lead outside especially in your garage etc. The snow may have drifted making it difficult to easily open them in the case that you need to get out quickly. The life you save may be your own and it will only take you a few minutes to get this done!
